Giving back to the local community

(Bridging The Gap)

Bridging Digital Division

Husain Abdulqadir, a senior at Mt. Everest Academy and a dedicated volunteer with Computers to Kids (C2K), partnered with Enjoining Good USA (EGU) to bridge the digital divide. This initiative involved a collaboration between three non-profit organizations committed to community support: the Islamic Center of San Diego (ICSD), EGU, and C2K.

With funding provided by ICSD and EGU, seven refurbished IBM ThinkPad laptops were purchased at a discounted rate from C2K. ICSD East County identified seven deserving families, including recently resettled Afghan refugees, as recipients of these devices. The laptops were delivered to the families at the ICSD East County facility.

What started as Husain’s school project has the potential to become a pilot program. Plans are underway to provide basic computer training to the recipients and conduct follow-up assessments to evaluate the impact of the laptops. If the initiative proves successful and additional needs are identified, the project aims to continue and expand through partnerships with ICSD and other 501(c)(3) organizations.

EGU expresses sincere gratitude to  Sheikh Taha, Sheikh Saad, Husain, Computers to Kids and all the volunteers for their collective efforts in making this project a reality.

The goal of this project umbrella is to arrange various social welfare initiatives to help the local community in San Diego, California. Under this projects various educational seminars have been arranged.
