Abahon - A non-profit Social Organization (Zakat Eligible)

Enjoining Good is very happy to partner with a non-profit social organization named Abahon. Abahon has been involved in various humanitarian projects including giving educational and food support for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. For detailed list of ongoing projects supported by Abahon please visit the following website: Home – Abahon.

In September of 2017, Abahon evolved in order to respond to one of the greatest humanitarian crises in the recent history. Massive influx of Rohingya refugees, who were persecuted and driven out from their homeland by the Myanmar military, has created the fastest growing refugee crisis after WWII. Although the crisis captured the immediate attention from most nations along with big organizations (UN, Red Crescent etc.) around the globe, the promised support and aid against the enormous need of one million destitute victims of what the United Nations described as a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing” was far from adequate. As a natural response, many local organizations, like Abhahon, along with individuals stepped in to join hand the relief and rehabilitation effort.

We started out with a group of 330 orphans and have built tents, shelters, toilets, mosques, madrasas, installed tubewells etc for them. We also provided them with warm clothes during winters, educational materials, solar ovens and lamp, cooking pots, etc. Our volunteer medical team, staffed with qualified physicians and trained nurses, has set up medical camps to offer medical services along with basic medicine. In December we launched a more structured program called “Food for Education” for refugee children. Currently, we have over 300 children under this program. All praises be to God first and foremost. We would not be able to come this far and continue our strife agains the odds without the generous and continuous contributions from our volunteers. Rohingya Crisis – Abahon
